Pani Puri
Tangy street food with crunchy puri filled with potato mash and tamarind water.
Ingredients
For puri
- 1/2 cup Sooji / Rava
- 4 tablespoons Maida / All purpose flour
- 1 pinch Baking Powder
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- Salt to taste
For making Potato filling
- 1 cup Boiled potato (cubed/smashed)
- 1/2 cup boiled whole moong dal
- 1/2 teaspoon Chilli Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Amchur powder
- 1/2 cup chopped Cilantro
- Salt to taste
For Tamarind water
- Tamarind (Small lemon size)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed powder
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Amchur powder.
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Knead dough by mixing puri ingredients with water. Roll piece of dough into roti. Cut small round shapes using lid.
- Deep fry them in hot oil till golden brown.
- Mash boiled potato and moong with all spice mixture.
- Soak the tamarind in a cup of water for an hour and extract the tamarind pulp. Add all other ingredients and mix well.
- With each puri, punch a hole using thumb. Fill potato mixture. Dip in tamarind water and gulp Pani Puri!
