Olya haldiche lonche

Simple pickle made from raw turmeric

Ingredients

  • 2 kilograms raw turmeric
  • 1 1/2 cups oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons mustard seeds
  • 7 fresh lemon
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 3 teaspoons red chilli powder
  • 4 tablespoons achari masala
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice all turmeric. Squeeze lemon juice over turmeric.
  2. Add salt, red chilli powder, Achari masala and sugar. Mix well.
  3. Heat oil. Splutter mustard seeds for 30 seconds. Switch off and let cool.
  4. Pour oil over turmeric. Mix well.
  5. Serve olya haldiche lonche fresh.
  6. Store in air tight container and refrigerate.
