Fritters made from grass pea available locally in Himachal Pradesh

Ingredients

  • Kalan / Grass pea, locally available in Kangra region of Himachal
  • Onion, chopped
  • Garlic
  • Basil Leaves, chopped
  • Coriander leaves, chopped
  • Mint Leaves
  • Ajwain Seeds
  • Turmeric powder
  • Green Chilli
  • Salt
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Break the grains of grass pea coarsely and remove the outer covering by winnowing
  2. Soak overnight and ground well.
  3. Add finely chopped onion and mint leaves to paste
  4. Add spices and salt in batter. Mix well
  5. Heat oil in pan. Deep fry round portions of batter till fully cooked.
  6. Serve along with curd or chutney
