Echorer Kofta Curry
Echorer Kofta Curry is a Bengali style kofta curry made by cooking raw jackfruit balls in a delicious gravy. This dish is a perfect combination with rice or chapati.

Ingredients
- Oil for frying
- 2 teaspoons Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 2 teaspoons Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 2 Onions, medium size finely chopped
- 2 Cloves, crushed
- 2 Green cardamoms, crushed
- 4 Cinnamon sticks inch long, crushed
- 2 Green chili, chopped
- 2 Tomatoes, chopped
- 1 Potato medium size , boiled and mashed
- 4 cups Raw Jackfruit, cut into medium size cubes and boiled with turmeric powder and salt
For gravy:
- 2 tablespoons Coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 2 Tomatoes, grated
- 3 tablespoons Mustard oil
- 2 Red chili whole
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala,(cinnamon + cloves + green cardamoms), crushed
- 2 Bay leaves
- 2 tablespoons Cashew paste
- 1 tablespoon Raisin paste
- 1 pinch Asafetida
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Red chili powder
Instructions
- Heat oil in pan and add crushed garam masala, onion, ginger and garlic. Sauté
- Add tomato, boiled raw jackfruit, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and cook until done.
- Add mashed potatoes, prepare small balls out of this mixture and deep fry them. Keep aside
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté bay leaf, crushed garam masala, red chili, asafetida and tomato.
- Add cashew and raisin paste, all dry spices except garam masala powder and salt and sauté.
- Add a cup warm water and prepared koftas and cook.
- Sprinkle garam masala and coriander leaves.
- Serve Echorer Kofta Curry with rice or chapati.
