Vegetables cooked in salt, chingal (soda) and sa-um(fat)

Ingredients

  • potatoes
  • bean
  • cabbage (zikhlum)
  • lady-fingers (bawrhsaiabe)
  • 4 chili pepper (hmarchapui)
  • 4 garlic (purunvar)
  • ginger (sawhthing)
  • 1 teaspoon dried soya-beans (bekang)
  • 1/2 tablespoon chingal (or Soda)
  • 1/2 tablespoon saum (fermented pig fat) or Butter

Instructions

  1. Heat around 5 cups of water. As it starts boiling add harder vegetables (potatoes, beans, others). Cook for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add chili peppers, garlics, ginger slices, bekang (dried smelly soya-beans), saum (fermented pig fat) and chingal or soda (potassium bicarbonate) . Keep stirring.
  3. As potatoes are cooked add lady finger and salt.
  4. Cotinue heating till all vegetables are cooked.
  5. Serve Bai hot.
