Pigeon pea lentil curry with gujarati flavors

Ingredients

  • 1 cup akhi tuvar dal / whole dry pigeon pea
  • 2 Onion, chopped
  • 2 Tomato, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cloves, cinnamon stick powder
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 Dry red chili
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 teaspoons Green chilies
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Soak dal overnight. Pressure cook till beans are cooked.
  2. Heat oil. Stir fry spices, onion and tomatoes.
  3. Mix boiled dal in spices temper. Add water and cook till required consistency is achieved.
  4. Serve tuver na thotha hot with rice or roti.
